Christian Reconstructionists Trying to Take Dominion in America

I just read this article from a Baptist conference last year and nearly fell off my chair! It's an interesting read - no not really - actually a bit scary read! It says:

"a dire picture of a country that is doomed unless it embraces a rigid form of government led by fundamentalist Christian edicts. "We need a new American vision, because we've lost our biblical heritage, our Christian birthright, which has been given to us by our founders, we have squandered for a poisonous bowl of atheistic humanism and political correctness". repeatedly attacked the "homosexual agenda" as one of the main driving forces against fundamentalist Christianity

"And now our culture is experiencing its deadly effects," he continued. "The putrid stench of the culture of death fills our living rooms, coming to us every night on the evening news. And this Worldview, I believe, is the antidote for the culture of death."

"Phillips spent the next hour railing against what he said was a plot by secularists to write Christianity out of American history, concluding that "those who control history define the culture." and "He has argued that stoning is the preferred means of capital punishment"

Two ADF representatives appeared before the Worldview audience and promoted the group's work to bring the legal system under Christian control.
Good things will transpire and pointed to the election and re-election of President George W. Bush as evidence.

Now, you might know I am an outspoken atheist (no surprise here) but when I read articles like this, I wonder why other atheists aren't coming out of the closet and speaking up against this horrible and self-righteous attempt to take-over of our own government.

Atheists are misunderstood by most of society. We are just like every other person, but without a belief in supernatural deities. Why do most religious people believe in only on one god and disbelieve thousands of other gods? We just go one further. Why would this simple difference become a dividing issue among us? Well, it shouldn't be. If you come out, you'll be supporting the non-believing community by showing others that you too, are a good and moral person and live a productive life. Hiding in the closet is just what devout Christians want you to do. Come out to your friends. Most will keep your friendship. Those who do not might not be worth keeping as friends. It's everyone's right to be who they really are without defending your position. Coming out will empower you to be a proud atheist. It will show others that we are really like them and are not evil in any sense of the word.
