The Jefferson Billboard

Yes – I made a mistake.  I own it. I’ll take responsibility for it, But Jefferson said this ‘non-quote’ in many other quotes he DID say.  If he were alive today, I’m sure her would have commented ” No – I didn’t say that – but I sure could have”.

It’s been surprising how many people have commented on this billboard and not the others BYS have placed in Orange County.  I assume is what sparked this outcry was the combination of the national belief that this is a Christian nation and the fact that the majority of Americans are believers.  I have also heard from many supporters as well.  My goal of making others think a bit more is fulfilled, albeit at my expense of my lack of researching the Monticello website .

You’ve got my support. I emailed you my Anti-Jefferson bible idea. I think it’d be a great read for all the believers out there.

I saw the billboard online and laughed. I am originally from OC, graduated from UCLA in the 60′s, lived in Westminster, Seal Beach, Huntinging Beach and finally Irvine, had a store in Laguna before I moved back to Charlottesville. The Jefferson scholars have the same “editing” power as the Vatican did with the Bible. I remember the flap about the Sally Henning branch of the Jefferson family and how they weren’t invited to family reunions and that went on until only a few years ago. Just because they don’t find it, doesn’t mean it didn’t exist!
I love what you are doing…I’d start a chapter back here but I’d get a cross burned on my lawn!! Still, my heart is with you all!
